Green Bay Continues Hot Playoff Run, Advances to Championship

After an up-and-down finish to the regular season, the Green Bay Rockers have caught fire at just the right time. They opened the Northwoods League Playoffs with a sweep of the Wausau Woodchucks, then traveled to Traverse City on Tuesday night and took down the Pit Spitters 10-5 to capture the Divisional Championship.

The Rockers wasted no time seizing control, jumping out to a 10-0 lead by the seventh inning. Their offense exploded for six runs in the top of the seventh, stretching an already comfortable margin. Eli Selga led the charge, going 4-for-6 with two RBIs, while Max Humphrey added a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI. In a postseason often defined by the long ball, Green Bay scored all 10 of its runs without hitting a home run — and took advantage of five unearned runs to pad the lead.

On the mound, the Rockers were equally dominant. Starter Bryce Leonard tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just four hits. The bullpen trio of Miranda, Alexander, and Aguiar closed the door, combining to give up only one earned run over the final four innings.

Green Bay is chasing its second championship in three years after defeating St. Cloud for the title in 2023. Their opponent for the championship matchup Thursday will be decided tonight when the Duluth Huskies and Mankato MoonDogs meet in the Great Plains Divisional Championship.
