Swimmers, golfers, tennis players open WIAA season

A week after many boys across the state officially opened their fall season with football practices, the same can be said about girls across three different sports.

Girls' golf started its season on Monday with its first practices of the year, while tennis and swimming followed suit on Tuesday.

For the second straight year, no local team will compete in tennis, with Kewaunee joining Kiel in opting out of their subsectional. Door County United is the area's only swim team, opening its 2025 campaign on August 23rd at Marinette. The turnaround is much quicker for girls' golf. After practicing for the first time on Monday, Sturgeon Bay is scheduled to open at home on Thursday against Bonduel, Oconto, Seymour, and Shawano while Luxemburg-Casco opens with a scramble against  Denmark, Marinette, and Oconto Falls.
