The Green Bay Rockers jumped out to a 5-0 lead en route to an 8-4 win over the Wausau Woodchucks to take a 1-0 lead in their divisional series.
The Rockers scored in four of the first five innings, including a two-run second inning courtesy of a solo shot from Xaige Lancaster and a RBI single off the bat of Eric Jeon. The Woodchucks narrowed the lead to one after scoring four runs in the top of the sixth inning, but Eli Selga extended the lead out to four with one swing of the bat, driving in three runs on a home run.
Lancaster and Jeremy Delamota posted three-hit games while Collin Helms and Joe Mennella each had two hits in the Rockers' win. The Rockers outhit the Woodchucks 14-4. Steve Marhefke earned the win, allowing four runs (0 ER) on four hits across 5.1 innings, recording two of the team's six strikeouts.
The two teams travel to Wausau for game two on Monday night at 6:05 p.m.
