A's capture first game against Guins

Three runs in the first inning set a tone Casco would not relinquish as they beat Algoma in the first of potentially three games in Monday's semifinal round of the Shoreland League playoffs.

Owen Deprez delivered the game's fatal blow with a three-run homer to gave the A's the early lead. Jack Peterson helped the Penguins get on the board in the sixth inning with a single that drove in Jaden Dillar. The A's scored an insurance run in the ninth inning when Deprez returned with a RBI single.

Deprez's night ended with four RBI on two hits, with three other players registering at least one hit. The Penguins' Dillar, Peterson, and Tyler Neinas collected the lone hits for the Penguins in the series' opening loss.

The two teams face each other for game two in Casco on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
