Door County League: Ports, Islanders, and Braves win blowouts

Lopsided results comprised most of the Sunday slate of Door County Baseball League games.

 

West Jacksonport only needed eight innings to knock off Sister Bay 14-1.

 

Baileys Harbor's Aaron Brey and Danny Lodl held down a tough Egg Harbor lineup for an 8-2 win. The pair combined to strike out 13 while allowing two runs on seven hits. Patrick Haese, Bryce Plzak, and Caleb Plzak set the table at the top of the order with two hits apiece. Caleb Plzak also drove in a pair of runs in the win. Cory Fuller, Nick Kita, and Cole Krause each had two hits in the loss for the Indians.

 

A nine-run third inning helped Washington Island cruise to a 14-3 eight-inning win over Institute. The Islanders outhit the Cubs 15-4 in the contest, with Ben Geiger posting three hits and two RBI while Ben Johnson, Luke Geiger, and Ray McDonald were registering two of their own. Matt Petersilka also drove in a pair for the Islanders in the win. The Cubs scored single runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to get the score a little closer. Sam Zirbel and Caleb Hoffman were rewarded with RBIs for their efforts, while Zirbel, Will Hartman, Quinn Schram, and Nick Peterson all posted hits for the Cubs.

 

Kolberg scored nine unanswered runs, including three in the first inning, to beat their southern rivals Maplewood 9-1 at home. Trevor Reinhardt led the way, going 3-5 at the plate and throwing six innings of shutout ball while striking out eight on the mound. Jack Peterson homered and drove in three runs as part of his 2-4 day. Austin Rohe also had a multi-hit day for the Braves in the win. Tory Jandrin's fielder's choice represented the lone run scored by the Mets in the game. Jaden Dillar and Zach Marchant each had two hits in the Mets' loss.
