Brady Kita capped off a four-run comeback win for Algoma as they advanced in the Shoreland League playoffs with an 11-10 win over Kewaunee on Thursday.
The Penguins thought they would cruise to an easy win after taking a 6-0 lead after four innings, only to see the Chiefs take advantage of four walks and three hit-by-pitches to tie the game. The two teams traded runs in the sixth before the Chiefs scored three runs in the seventh, highlighted by a run-scoring singles from Brett Paulsen and Nathan Havolitz. The Penguins would not go away quietly in the night, scoring two runs in the eighth and ninth inning capped off by Kita's two-run shot.
Jack Peterson paced the Penguins' offense with four RBI on a 4-5 night with a homer. Tyler Neinas had three hits while Will Jandrin and Jaden Dillar each had a pair of knocks in the Penguins' win. Ethan Paplham and Paulsen each had two hits and combined to drive in four runs.
