Thanks to wins by Kewaunee and Algoma, the two local Shoreland League teams that were in action on Tuesday are now set for a collision course on Thursday.
In Kewaunee, the Chiefs took advantage of four Ashwaubenon errors and scored three important runs in the seventh inning to beat the Lookouts 6-5. Cal Ihlenfeldt registered two hits and an RBI, while Brett Paulsen went 1-3 with two RBI. Paulsen earned the win on the mound with eight strikeouts while allowing two runs (2 ER) on four hits across six innings.
In Algoma, the Guins posted four runs in the seventh inning to beat Two Rivers 8-5. The two teams traded runs early on in the game, leaving the game tied before the Guins rallied for their eventual winning runs. The Polar Bears tacked on a run in the eighth, but it wasn't enough to tip the scales in their favor. Brady Kita went 3-5 while Jaden Dillar and Jack Peterson each tallied two hits in the win. Dillar and Matthew Malvitz each homered, combining to drive in four runs. Charlie Prokash earned the win, allowing three runs (0 ER) on two hits while striking out three.
The two teams will now face each other on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Algoma.
