Egg Harbor and Institute kick off the final July weekend at night on Friday in Door County Baseball League action.
The Cubs played the Bays tough last weekend but eventually lost 6-1 to Sister Bay on the road. The Cubs finally tallied a run in the eighth inning when Nick Peterson drew a bases-loaded walk. Peterson and Sam Zirbel each had two hits to lead the Cubs' attack that actually outhit the Bays 8-5. It is the first of two consecutive games for the Cubs, who will travel to Kolberg on Saturday for 1:30 p.m. makeup.
Maplewood outlasted Egg Harbor in what proved to be a back-and-forth game that went in the Mets' favor when they scored two runs in the seventh to retake the lead. Cory Fuller and Cody Giesseman each had two hits and Brody Kollath had a pair of RBI for the Indians in the loss.
First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m.
