Braves outlast Islanders

Kolberg rallied for eight runs in their final two innings to stun Washington Island at home 9-7.

 

The Braves took a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but saw their northern rivals respond with a five-run second inning, led by three consecutive run-scoring hits by Luke Geiger, Ben Geiger, and Ray McDonald. The Islanders scored two more runs in the third before both offenses laid silent for the next three innings. The Braves chipped away at the lead with three runs in the seventh before laying five on the scoreboard in the eighth inning, capped off by a go-ahead homer by Austin Dart that was preceded by Jack Peterson scoring on a wild pitch.

 

Peterson ended his day going 1-3 with three RBI while Nick LeCaptain and Dart each had two-hit, two RBI games. Trevor Reinhardt went 3-5 and a RBI for the Braves to go along with his win on the mound as he pitched seven innings in relief. For the Islanders, the Geigers went a combined 4-10 with four RBI wheil McDonald went 2-4 and a RBI.
