The Green Bay Glory defended their home turf on Saturday afternoon, defeating visiting Dekalb County United 4-2 at the Banta Bowl in Appleton. The game would enter halftime 0-0 with each team having just a few shots on goal, but each keeper having protected their net.
Dekalb would take the lead early in the second half when in the 47' goal by Ian Fergeson. The Glory however would answer quickly with a Joshua Johanson goal in the 55', assisted by Osvaldo (Ozzy) Ramirez. Just a few minutes later, the Glory would go up a man when the United lost Zach Heitkemper to a red card with a hard takedown a foot shy from giving the Glory a Penalty kick at the top of the box. Ozzy Ramirez take the free kick, and slide it past the right end of the United wall and tucked in into the net giving the Glory a 2-1 lead.
The united would score again in the 70' minute to tie it a 2-2. Ozzy Ramirez would put the Glory ahead for good in the 76' with a soft touch in off an assist from Dominic Lagona who got behind the United keeper. An 89' goal by Elliot Bordini, with an assist by Michael Rohrman, set the final score at 4-2.
Elliot was a driving force behind formation of the men's team after he watched his mother, Karry Geocaris, co-found and play for the women's team. Kerry Geocaris also coaches the men's team alongside Patrick Birder.
