The Kolberg Braves scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back in its 7-2 win over Washington Island on Sunday.
Leading 1-0, Christian Counard delivered a two-RBI double that drove in Austin Rohe and Jack Peterson to make it 3-0. The Braves extended the lead to 5-0 when Jack Peterson doubled in one run and scored another on a bases-loaded walks. The Islanders chipped away at the deficit in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI single and a run-scoring double play, but gave those runs back in the top of the ninth.
Peterson and Jake Schneider paced the Braves with two hits while Rohe, Peterson, Austen Dart, and Devin Schinktgen all drove in one run. Ben Geiger led the Islanders with two hits while five other players had at least one.
