Green Bay basketball streaks continue

Two streaks are still alive for the Green Bay basketball programs after Thursday's games, though fans wish at least one of them would end.

In Green Bay, the Phoenix women outscored Cleveland State 26-16 in the fourth quarter to win 66-52. Natalie McNeal scored a season-high 24 points for the Phoenix to lead all scorers. Callie Genke added 11 points, Bailey Butler tallied chipped in nine points, and Jasmine Kondrakiewicz registered eight points in the victory. It was the Phoenix's 11th straight win as they sit in second place in the Horizon League. The Phoenix women will play the IU Indy Jaguars this Sunday at 1 p.m.

A second-half swoon once again doomed the Phoenix men in its 68-54 road loss to Oakland, its 21st of the season and its 17th straight. It was tied at 29 at the break before the Golden Grizzlies engineered a 19-1 run to start the second half to take control of the game. The Phoenix will stay in Michigan Saturday in hopes of snapping their dubious streak when they head to Detroit Mercy for a 12 p.m. game against the Titans.
