Phoenix women close hard on Golden Grizzlies

A 20-4 run in the second quarter helped the Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team extend its winning streak with a 69-39 win.

The game started with a 9-0 run by the Phoenix, only to see it disappear midway through the first quarter, with the home team securing a slim one-point lead. The second quarter proved to be a difference-maker for the team as the end result was never in doubt after that.  Callie Genke led the way with a season-high 22 points while Natalie McNeal added 18 points in the Phoenix's eight consecutive victory. Luxemburg-Casco alum Cassie Schilitz added nine, surpassing 1,200 points in her Phoenix career.

The Phoenix men will get an opportunity to keep the good vibes going on Sunday when they host Youngstown State at the Resch Center at 1 p.m. They saw a double-digit lead disappear before getting blow out by Robert Morris in Friday's game.
