After entering the holiday break on a forgettable note, the Green Bay Phoenix men hope to start a streak of a different kind on Sunday when they play Purdue Fort Wayne at the Resch Center.
The last time the Phoenix played, they came off a close loss to Michigan Tech and battled Drake tough, but ultimately came up empty with a 72-62 loss on Saturday night in Des Moines. The game was absent of its usual second-half swoon, marking a possible turn of their season's misfortune. Instead, a 15-2 run midway through the first half sank the Phoenix. In Anthony Roy's absence, Mac Wrecke had his best night in a Phoenix uniform as he scored a career-high 19 points. Preston Ruedinger (14 points) and Marcus Hall (10 points) also finished double figures for the Phoenix.
The Mastodons have won four of their last five with a 89-58 loss to Michigan before the holidays the lone blemish during that span. They are tied for fourth place in the Horizon League with a 2-1 mark and currently sit at 9-5 on the season.
Because of the Packers, the game has been moved from a 4 p.m. tip to a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.
