Cooper named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Green Bay Packers rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper made a little history this week when he was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Cooper was honored for his performance against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night, registering five tackles (two for loss), two passes defended, a sack, and an interception. It was the second time he was honored for his play this season, with the first time coming after recording eight tackles, a strip-sack, and a pass deflection in the Packers victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8. Cooper becomes the first Packers player to earn the award twice in a season since Clay Matthews recorded the feat in 2010. He is also the first rookie to do so since the award started in 1984.

The Packers play again on Monday night at Lambeau Field against the New Orleans Saints.
