Green Bay basketball teams split against IU Indy

The Green Bay Phoenix basketball teams both led at halftime, but only the women were able to hold onto that lead Wednesday night against IU Indianapolis.

At the Kress Center in Green Bay, the Phoenix women outscored the Jaguars 22-3 in the first quarter on their way to a 78-56 win. The Phoenix hit nine three-pointers in the contest, with Luxemburg-Casco alum Cassie Schiltz knocking down four en route to a 12-point game. She was one of five players to reach double-figures, led by Maddy Schreiber's 16 points. The Phoenix returns to life on the road  Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. tip with Purdue Fort Wayne.

Inside the Jungle of Indianapolis, the Phoenix men led by six points at the break, but a five-plus minute scoring drought paired with a 14-0 run by the Jaguars led to an 84-75 defeat. Both teams were streaky in the first half, with the Phoenix answering a 10-0 Jaguars run with one of their own. Anthony Roy once again led the way with 34 points, with Foster Wonders adding 14 and Marcus Hall chipping in another 11. They will return home on Saturday to host Cleveland State at the Resch Center for a 2 p.m. tip.
