Buckeyes bounce Phoenix men with blowout

A 44-18 run to close out the game took a potential upset bid by the Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team and turned it into a 102-69 blowout victory for the Buckeyes of Ohio State.

Anthony Roy once again made life difficult for opposing defenders, knocking down contested shots from all over the court as he hit eight three-pointers en route to a 30-point performance. The rest of the team was held in check, and no other player reached double figures. Mac Wrecke scored eight points, Foster Wonders chipped in seven, and Ben Tweedy added six in the loss. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes had seven players reach double figures, led by Bruce Thornton's 25 points.

The Phoenix did make things interesting in the second half. Down by 10 at the break, the Phoenix dropped the deficit to six points with 12 minutes remaining in the game before they went cold and the Buckeyes imposed their will on the young roster. The Buckeyes had 22 more points in the paint and 14 more rebounds than the Phoenix.

The Phoenix are back in action on Saturday with a noon contest against Campbell at the Resch Center.
