The Green Bay women's basketball team looks for their second win of the season on Sunday when they battle the North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
In their last game, the Phoenix women needed a 15-0 run late to knock down the UIC Flames 74-71. The team fell behind early for a third consecutive game, finding itself down 26-18 after the first quarter despite jumping out to an 8-0 lead at the opening whistle. The Phoenix chipped away at it during the second quarter before outscoring their hosts 22-12 in the final stanza. Maddy Schreiber led the way with 25 points, while Natalie McNeal (15 points) and Jenna Guyer (11 points) made big buckets and critical free throws late to preserve the victory. It was head coach Kayla Karius' first win at the helm of the Phoenix.
The Fighting Hawks are 2-0 on the year after their Monday matchup against Youngstown State was canceled. They beat Dickinson State and Eastern Illinois for their early-season victories.
The two teams meet in Grand Forks for a 2 p.m. tip.
