A three-run rally in the seventh inning led Sister Bay past their southern rivals to win 5-3 against Kolberg to win the regular-season Door County League championship.
The Braves put the pressure on their hosts early with Austin Rohe hitting an RBI single in the first inning and Jack Peterson posting an RBI groundout in the second inning to give them a 2-0 lead after two inning. The Bays would tie things up in the third inning when Griffin Cole drove in Chubs Laughlin to cut the lead in half before Sam Forkert's ground out brought in Spencer Krause.
The Braves answered that rally with a run in the fifth inning thanks when Jack Peterson scored on a double play ground out by Rohe. The Bays would flip the game on its head in the seventh when Krause and Cole hit back-to-back singles that brought home the game-tying and eventual game-winning runs. The Braves would threaten in the eighth inning with men at first and third and two outs before Jake Schneider was retired on a ground out. Matt Hecht earned the save as he recorded the final four outs.
The Bays capture the regular-season crown and will host Washington Island next Sunday for a 1:30 p.m. tilt. The game will be broadcast on 105.1 The GOAT, NEWRadipSportsNetwork.com, and 1051TheGOAT.com. The Braves will host idle Maplewood in the other semifinal matchup on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
