Braves knock off Ports

The Kolberg Braves earned an important win as they try to get homefield advantage for the playoffs with a 3-1 win over the West Jacksonport Ports.

The Braves struck first with Tyler Neinas driving in Austen Dart with an RBI single. The Braves would tack on insurance two innings later when Jack Peterson delivered a two-RBI single to make it 3-0.

The Ports would make things interesting in the sixth inning when Derek Niedzwiecki hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.  With a man on, the Ports would not get closer when Jack Schneider struck out Riley Cordier for one of his 10 punchouts in the game. The Ports would get at least one man on in every inning after that including two in the ninth inning only to have the Braves wiggle off each time with timely defense and strikeouts.

With Sister Bay losing to Maplewood 9-4, the Bays and the Braves are now tied for first place in the DCL standings.
