Maplewood doubles up West Jacksonport

Maplewood avenged their Saturday afternoon loss to Kolberg with an 8-4 victory against West Jacksonport.

The Ports would take a 2-0 lead through three innings thanks to a lead-off homer from Alec Schartner in the first inning and an RBI single from Woody Schartner in the third. The Mets would tie the game up on single from Kody Kissinger and Adam Gutschow to make it 2-2 before the Ports retook the advantage on a hit from Luke Steebs. After Jayden Diller tied the game to the bottom of the fifth with a single, the Mets took control at the bottom of the sixth inning as they scored four runs with homers, with Kordell Draves and Mark Villers providing the offense. Both teams would score runs late, but it was not enough to keep the Mets from improving to 7-3 on the season.
