Alec Schartner’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the West Jacksonport Ports an exciting 4-3 win over the Egg Harbor Indians on Sunday afternoon.
The Indians struck first in the top of the first inning when Starting pitcher Luke Steebs hit three batters and allowed an RBI single by Cody Giesseman to make the score 1-0.
West Jacksonport tied the game on a RBI double by Woody Schartner in the bottom of the first inning, and then took the lead on a fielders choice by Alec Schartner to make it 2-1 in the second.
The Ports added another run in the third on an RBI single by Riley Cordier before Egg Harbor tallied runs in the fifth and seventh inning to tie the game at 3-3.
The ninth inning for the Ports started out with Steebs getting a one-out infield hit and advancing to second base on a throwing error. That set up the dramatic ending with Alec Schartner ripping a walk-off single to left field scoring Steebs and setting off a celebration for the Ports.
Riley Spetz took the loss in relief for Egg Harbor (5-4) , and Drew Tanck picked up the win, pitching the final two innings for West Jacksonport (4-5).
The next 105.1 The Goat broadcast will be this Thursday as the Door County League All-Stars will take on the Shoreland League All-Stars at Joannes Park in Green Bay on Thursday. The pregame will be at 7:15 p.m. with Tim Kowols, and the first pitch will be at 7:30 p.m.
