Behind three home runs on a sun-filled day at Egg Harbor Ballpark, the Kolberg Braves powered past the Egg Harbor Indians 11-3 in Door County League baseball on Sunday afternoon.
The Braves started the scoring in the first inning on an RBI fielder’s choice by Ausen Rohe to give Kolberg a 1-0 lead.
After a couple of scoreless innings, the Braves broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning. Austin Dart hit a long two-run home run, and Jack Peterson followed with a majestic grand slam to give Kolberg a commanding 7-0 lead.
A two-run homer by Trevor Reinhardt to deep left field in the sixth inning extended the Braves lead to 9-0, and Kolberg was able to cruise to an easy win.
Braves starting pitcher Jake Schneider pitched five strong innings in picking up the win, allowing only one hit while striking out four batters.
Indians starter Joe Sawyer took the loss after he could not get out of the fourth inning, with Kolberg sending 10 batters to the plate. The Indians scored two runs in the seventh inning on Drew Price’s two-run single and Brady Kita’s RBI double.
Kolberg tallied single runs in the eighth and ninth innings to finish up the scoring for the day.
