Algoma Penguins rallied to top Kewaunee 7-5 on Tuesday at Algoma. Algoma Penguins trailed by as many as four runs during the game.
Kewaunee jumped out to the lead in the top of the fourth inning after an error scored one run, and Wyatt Kruse doubled, scoring two runs.
Algoma Penguins took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning after Tyler Neinas walked, Kewaunee committed an error, and Algoma Penguins scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
Drew Price led things off on the mound for Algoma Penguins. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and three runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking four. Joe Anderson led things off on the bump for Kewaunee. The southpaw surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out 16 and walking seven. Charlie Prokash pitched one inning of no-run ball for Algoma Penguins in relief. They allowed one hit, striking out three and walking none.
Jack Peterson and Brayden Skenandor each collected two hits for Algoma Penguins. Neinas led the team with two runs batted in. Grant Gill paced Algoma Penguins with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing 12 walks for the game. Austen Dart, Brady Kita, and Gill each stole multiple bases for Algoma Penguins. Algoma Penguins stole eight bases in the game.
Kruse went 3-for-5 at the plate as they led the team with two runs batted in. Nathan Halvitz led Kewaunee with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game.
