For the second straight week, Egg Harbor hung up crooked numbers on the scoreboard in the middle of its game Friday night, taking 17-4 win over Institute Friday night.
The Indians struck first in the second inning when Anthony Jennerjohn's groundout brought home Brady Kita to make it 1-0. The Cubs would take the lead from the Indians in the bottom half of the frame when Will Hartman singled home two runs to make it 2-1.
The Indians would pile up runs in the middle innings, scoring 12 times between the fourth and sixth innings. That included a seven-run sixth that put the game in danger of ending early the rest of the night. Riley Spetz, Nick Kita, and Eric Dejardine reached base multiple times during the scoring spree as they combined for five RBIs in the stint. Kita delivered one of the game's biggest blows with a double in the sixth inning.
The Cubs did not go away with quietly with Robby Pollman driving in a run in the fifth inning and Josh Pflieger being at the plate when Frankie Ash took home on a passed ball. Drew Price and Jace Johnson would combine to sit down the last seven batters for the Cubs while the Indians tacked on another four runs in the eighth to put the game away early.
The Indians outhit the Cubs 16-6 in the game while nine different players (Dejardine, Isaac Berkley, Nick Kita, Brady Kita, Price, Alex Byrne, Cole Krause, Jennerjohn) all driving in at least one run. Joe Sawyer captured the win for the Indians, allowing four runs (2 ER) on six hits across 5 1/3 innings.
