Indians deal Mets' first loss

Maplewood's perfect start concluded on Sunday with a 13-8 loss to Egg Harbor.

The Mets struck first on Adam Gutschow's sacrifice fly in the first inning before Corey Fuller and Nick Kita gave the Indians the lead with hits in the top of the third inning. The Mets retook the lead in the bottom of the inning when Jaden Diller and Gutschow went back to back with home runs to make it 3-2. The Mets would tack on one more in the frame to give themselves a two-run cushion.

The Mets would stretch it to 5-2 before the Indians barraged the Mets with 11 runs combined in the sixth and seventh innings. The offensive highlights in those innings included a Riley Spetz two-run homer in the sixth and a three-run dinger from Cody Giesseman in the seventh. Tory Jandrin's home run for the Mets was lost in the Indians' offensive push.
