Washington Island and West Jacksonport are both trying not to sink further in the Door County League standings when they meet each other on Sunday.
The Islanders are a surprising 0-4 on the season after reaching the DCL playoff championship game each of the last two seasons. After getting blown out in the league opener at Sister Bay, the Island have lost their last three games by a total of four runs. That includes letting one slip away in Kolberg last Sunday when the Islanders lost to the Braves 8-7. Caleb Cornell set the table for the Islanders as he went 3-5 with two RBI from the lead-off spot. Matt Foss also had two RBI days, while Ray MacDonald and Ben Geiger each drove in one run.
The Ports have lost three straight since their opening weekend win over Institute. Their last two losses have been by one run, including a walk-off defeat at the hands of Baileys Harbor last Friday night.
Jacob Nate will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT, NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com, and 1051TheGOAT.com beginning at 1:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by 1:30 p.m.
