Bays blast past Indians on 105.1 The Goat

The Sister Bay Bays scored 21 runs on 13 hits to cruise to an easy 21-9 win over the Egg Harbor Indians in Door County League baseball on Sunday at Egg Harbor Ball Park.

The Bays scored a run in the first and added three more in the third inning off Indians' starting pitcher Joe Sawyer to take a 4-1 lead early.

The wheels fell off in the fourth and fifth innings for Egg Harbor as the Bays brought 13 batters to the plate and scored seven runs in the fourth while bringing 14 more batters up in the fifth and scoring 10 runs to take a commanding 21-2 entering the bottom of the fifth.  The Bays benefited from the wildness of Indian's pitching, who hit two batters and walked eight more over those two innings.

The Indians scored all their runs on four home runs with a solo shot by Nick Kita in the third, followed by a grand slam by Eric DeJardine in the fifth.  Drew Price led off the sixth with a solo shot and Riley Spetz added a two-run homer later in the inning.  DeJardine then hit a solo homer in the seventh for his second of the game.

The Bays were led by Spencer Krause's four hits and two RBIs, while Griffin Cole contributed three hits.  Krause and Chubba Laughlin also scored four runs.   Sam Forkert picked up the win going the distance allowing nine hits while striking out one in eight innings.

The Bays (4-0) remain undefeated and are tied with the Maplewood Mets atop of the league, while Egg Harbor falls to 2-2.
