Door County Y Gymnasts Continue Undefeated Status

Door County, WI - The Striver Gymnastics Team from the Door County YMCA emerged victorious at the Sheboygan Quadrangular Sunshine Meet held last weekend. The Striver Silver Team continued its unbeaten streak for the season by clinching the Team competition with a score of 112.20. Notably, nine-year-old Ellie Kelsey led the Silver Team, securing the all-around title with a score of 37.40 out of a possible 40.0. Ellie also excelled in the floor exercise, beam, and bars, achieving gold in these categories, and secured bronze on beam and vault. Other standout performers from the team include Keira Clark, who achieved second place in the All Around and bars, and fourth place in the floor exercise; Sawyer Soukup, who won the vault and secured bronze in the floor exercise and the all-around; Evelynn Kelsey, who won the beam and secured fourth place in vault and the all-around; Lauren Gaida, who earned silver in the floor exercise, bronze in the beam, and fourth place in the all-around; and Greta Virgin, who won silver in the beam.

 

In addition, Shaylyn Asher competed in the platinum group and achieved gold on the floor exercise. In the level 7 competition, Estelle Duerst secured silver on the bars, and Portia Hah won silver on the beam.

 

Looking ahead, the Striver Team will undergo four weeks of training to prepare for the 2024 YMCA Gymnastics National Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, scheduled from June 20th to 25th. Head Coach Nikki Pollman will accompany the team on this journey.
