On a sun splashed Mother's Day afternoon, the Sister Bay Bays opened the 2024 Door County League at home with a resounding 17-3 win over the Washington Island Islanders in eight innings.
Powered by two three-run home runs, one by Spencer Krause and the other by Sam Forkert, the Bays made a big statement in game one.
The Bays picked up two runs in the second inning and another three runs in the third to take a 5-0 lead off Islander starter Ryan Jorgenson.
Sister Bay poured it on with Krause's blast in the fifth and Forkert's opposite field home run in the seventh inning.
Krause got the win going 4.1 innings and allowing three runs in the fifth before Matt Hecht closed out the game going the final 3.2 innings.
Hecht was 4/4 from the plate with a double and walk to lead the Bay's attack. Tom Sawyer added two doubles as well.
Troy Jorgenson had a double for Washington Island as the Islanders could only manage a few hits off of Krause and Hecht all day.
