After being rumored earlier this year, the dream of a college football game at Lambeau Field will have to wait until 2026.
Earlier this year, Louie Vaccher from WildcatReport.com reported that Northwestern Athletic Director Derrick Gragg told alumni in New York City that the football team will play a home game at Lambeau Field during the 2024 season. Northwestern began demolishing Ryan Field earlier this month to pave the way for a new stadium to open in 2026. No team was announced as the "visiting team," but Vaccher suggested it could have been against Wisconsin, which Northwestern was scheduled to be the "home team" against in 2024. The outcry from displacing a home game in enemy territory, among other issues, led Northwestern officials to explore and eventually approve plans to build temporary stands on campus along its lakeshore. Five games, including the Wisconsin matchup, will be hosted at the facility that is only expected to hold approximately 15,000 fans.
Notre Dame and Wisconsin are still expected to play at Lambeau in 2026.
