Phoenix women open road trip with upset of ranked Blue Jays

The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team opened their six-game road trip with an extra dose of confidence moving forward as they beat #22 Creighton 65-53.

The Phoenix set the tone against the Big East power early, outscoring them 22-9 in the game's opening stanza. A 17-0 run to end the first quarter and a 10-2 run to finish the second quarter gave the Phoenix a nine-point lead at the break. The Blue Jays would get to within four points late in the game, but the Phoenix knocked down free throws when it mattered to secure the upset.

Maddy Schreiber led the Phoenix with 14 points, and Callie Genke added 11 points off the bench. Luxemburg-Casco product Cassie Schiltz also reached double figures, scoring 10 points along with four assists.

The Phoenix will now head south of the border for the holidays as they compete in the Cancun Challenge, which takes place over Thanksgiving weekend in Cancun, Mexico.
