Course record set on Fall 50 course

A record fell during Saturday's Fall 50 on a cool day through the peninsula.

The five-member Grayslake Distance Project covered the 50-mile course in 4:35:35, a new course record for the relay, as the runners averaged 5:31 minutes per mile. For comparison, the average time for five-person teams was 7:53:28.

BBMC won the pairs relay with a time of 6:06:13, while Zach Ziesemer won the solo event with a time of 6:04:11. Over 4,000 runners participated in the event, with thousands more enjoying the fall foliage while dodging raindrops along the way.
