With the regular season complete and stats tallied, the Door County Baseball League has announced its 2023 Awards.  Using statistics by the DCBL Statistician, Chad Michaels, the top batter has been identified.  With a batting average of .500, Nick Kita, Egg Harbor Indian, captures the award. Kita crossed the plate 20 times and had 17 RBIs. It was a close year for batters this year.  Stealing 2nd is teammate, Cory Fuller (.480), and sliding in at 3rd is Sister Bay Bay’s Griffin Cole (.478)

In addition, the DCBL Managers voted Sam Forkert in as Pitcher of the Year.  Forkert threw for 89.2 innings and had 67 strikeouts.  And congratulations to Matt Ash, Egg Harbor Indians, who is the Manager of the Year.  Ash juggled a lot of players and had some interesting challenges this year.  He successfully got his team into the playoffs for a run for the postseason championship.

Sunday’s first post-season playoff games will include first-place Sister Bay hosting the Egg Harbor Indians.  Second place Kolberg will host Washington Island.  Awards will be presented at the Sunday, August 27 Post-season Championship Game.
