Rockers go for Northwoods championship Friday

The Green Bay Rockers could make franchise history on Friday when they face the St. Cloud Rox Friday night for the Northwoods League Championship.

A flair for the dramatic has been a key part of the Green Bay Rockers' playoff run and it proved itself again Wednesday night as they beat the Traverse City Pit Spitters 15-14 to advance to the Northwoods League Championship. The Rockers scored two runs in each of the first three innings, but the Pit Spitters scored five runs in each of the first two innings to carry a 10-6 advantage after the first third of the game and an 11-9 advantage at the halfway point. The Rockers would explode for six runs in the sixth inning, anchored by two bases-loaded walks and a bases-clearing double by Kendal Ewell to give them their first lead of the game. The hero from Monday's walk-off win, Ewell led the way offensively for the Rockers going 2-5 with a pair of doubles and four RBI.

The Rox clinched their spot with a walk-off win of their own, beating the LaCrosse Loggers 9-8.

First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. on ESPN+
