Blizzard's chance for win sails right

The Green Bay Blizzard saw their chance to get their season's first victory go just wide as they fell to the Bismarck Bucks 29-27 on Sunday.

Torrance Gibson opened the scoring for the Blizzard with an 11-yard touchdown pass, but they would be held scoreless until late in the third. Meanwhile, the Bucks scored 23 consecutive points, including three throws for scores from quarterback Jayru Campbell.

The Blizzard would finally eat away at the deficit when Gibson found Steven Newbold at the end of the third quarter and Dez Stewart at the beginning of the fourth quarter to bring the team back to within a field goal. Mason Gray would give the Blizzard a 26-23 lead when he picked off Campbell in the endzone and took it the other way for the score. Campbell would have the last laugh when Ben Glines caught his five-yard pass with just six seconds left on the clock. Nick Jarwoski's kick to end the game was no good, sending the Blizzard to their second straight loss.

The Blizzard will try for their first win against this Saturday in Des Moines when they take on the Iowa Barnstormers.
