A pair of four-goal periods helped the Madison Capitols sink the Green Bay Gamblers 8-3 at the Resch Center Sunday afternoon.
The game was scoreless after one period of play, but the Capitols put up the first of two four-goal periods in the second with Alex Servagno providing the only saving grace in the stanza with a goal in the final second of play.
The Capitols would answer that goal with three more to start the period on a high note. The scoring run included the second and third goals of the day by the Capitols' Quinn Finley to give him a hat trick. Servagno would tally his second goal after Will Staring gave the Gamblers another goal three minutes before to cut the lead to 7-3. The Capitols would extend their lead minutes later to tighten their stranglehold on the game and the weekend series. They outshot the Gamblers 42-29 on the day.
The Gamblers will head out of town for a three-game stretch this weekend with two games against Muskegon and one against Team USA.
