Phoenix women win home finale; men try to do the same Sunday

The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team will be a tough act to follow for the men after they beat IUPUI 71-56 Saturday afternoon.

Hailey Oskey and Luxemburg-Casco product Cassie Schiltz each scored 16 points on a day where Meghan Pingel played her final regular-season game at the Kress Center after six years in the program. The Jaguars took an early lead that the Phoenix had to fight back to tie in the closing moments of the first quarter. The Phoenix went on to double up the Jaguars in the second quarter and outscore them 21-15 in the final stanza to secure their 10th straight victory. The Phoenix play Milwaukee on Monday.

The Phoenix men will play their home finale on Sunday afternoon when they host Cleveland State. They will have a tall task as the Vikings have the best offense in the league at 76.5 points per game and a 47.6-percent field goal percentage. The two teams play Sunday at 2 p.m.
