Phoenix men fall to IPFW, women face tough task in IUPUI

The Green Bay Phoenix men struggled in their matchup against IPFW Friday night at the Kress Center, falling to IPFW 74-55.

 

The  Mastodons' were led by Damian Qui Jong, who hit four of his five three-pointers en route to a 16 point night with two other players hitting double figures. The Mastodons hit 13 of their three-point shots, shooting at over a 50 percent clip.

 

On the flip side, it took a while for the Phoenix to get going offensively Friday, opening the game in a five-minute scoring drought and they were never able to tie or take the lead in the game. Kamari McGee led the Phoenix with 19 points while Manny Ansong scored 12 points. Two others scored six points.

 

Saturday afternoon will feature the last team the Phoenix lost to in the IUPUI Jaguars. The relatively new team to the Horizon League has two top 25 wins this is year and is currently ranked eighth in the mid-major poll. The Phoenix have won their last nine games since that loss to the Jaguars on January 6th. Tip is set for 1 p.m.
