Phoenix women run streak to nine, men host Cleveland State

Green Bay basketball's weekend at the Kress got off to a good start on Thursday with the women beating soon-to-be-former Horizon League foe UIC 75-46.

The Flames kept it close earlier until the Phoenix went on an 18-6 run to close out the first half and gave themselves a lead they would not surrender. The Phoenix defense would not let the Flames get any closer than 12 points while their offense got the lead up to near 30 points in the fourth quarter even as reserves began to get time. Sydney Levy made four three-pointers in the game en route to 21 point performance. Three others scored at least six points in the game. They wrap up their home slate on Saturday when they host IUPUI at 1 p.m.

The Phoenix men will play at the Kress Center Friday when IPFW comes to town. The Mastodons have won five straight while the Phoenix have lost eight in a row. One of those losses came against the Mastodons February 5th when the Phoenix kept things close until the final eight minutes in a 71-55 loss. Friday's game begins at 7 p.m.
