Phoenix women topple Titans, men face Milwaukee Sunday

The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team continued their winning streak and finished a clean sweep of Michigan with a 53-39 win over Detroit-Mercy.

Neither team shot terribly well in the game with both teams shooting under 33 percent on the day and under 22 percent from behind the arc. The difference was in the opportunities as the Phoenix forced 24 turnovers on the afternoon compared to just nine of their own. Sydney Levy and Hailey Oskey each scored 10 points in the win to lead the Phoenix to their longest winning streak in five years.

The Phoenix men will head south to Milwaukee to try to steal a game from their in-state rival in a year where they have yet to register a road win. The Panthers won the matchup earlier in the season 63-49 at the Resch Center days before the Phoenix had to postpone a pair of games due to COVID protocols. A win would also salvage a game in their three games in seven days stretch. They lost to Wright State and Northern Kentucky at home on Wednesday and Friday respectively. Sunday's game begins at 1 p.m.
