Phoenix split road matchups

The Green Bay Phoenix had mixed results Thursday as both of their teams were in action out east.

On the women's side, just playing was great but beating Wright State 73-51. The Phoenix doubled up the Raiders in the first half before they saw their sizable lead get bit up a little bit. Sydney Levy scored a Green Bay career-high 24 points and Hailey Oskey added 22 points in the victory, which was the first time the Phoenix have played a game since January 8th. It was a complete performance for the Phoenix who hit their most three-point shots of the season (nine) while limiting the Raiders to less than a 28 percent field goal percentage on the night. They will travel to Northern Kentucky for a Saturday showdown as they look to avenge a loss from earlier this seaosn.

On the men's side, the Phoenix were victimized by two big runs by Youngstown State to lose 63-50. The Penguins jumped out to a 22-8 lead only to see the Phoenix whittle it down to just a 28-23 halftime deficit. The Phoenix would have to try to do something similar in the second half, but an 11-3 run by the  Penguins to end the game pushed the possible victory out to pasture for another night. Kamari McGee and Japannah Kellogg III each got 10 points while Manny Ansong pitched in nine points. Cade Meyer just missed a double-double, registering eight points and 10 rebounds. Scott Venci from the USA Today Network-Wisconsin reported that Donovan Ivory is no longer with the program. No reason was given by head coach Will Ryan as to why the decision was made. The Phoenix will play Robert Morris College on Saturday.
