Second period catapults Gamblers past Steel

The Green Bay Gamblers used a big second period to beat the league-leading Chicago Steel 5-3 in Geneva, Ill. Friday night.

Down 1-0 after the first period, Cameron  Lund, Matt Deboer, and Damien Carfagna each scored goals in the second period to give the Gamblers a lead they would not surrender. The two teams traded goals in the third period with Sawyer Scholl and John Mittelstadt scoring the first and third goals of the period for the Gamblers. The Gamblers' defense may have been the biggest story of the night, limiting the high-flying Steel offense to just 20 shots. Aaron Randazzo picked up the win as he stopped 17 of those shots.

The Gamblers take their roadshow west as they settle in Dubuque for a single game Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. The Fighting Saints lost their matchup to Cedar Rapids 4-1.
