Phoenix flame out against UIC

The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team was short-handed for a second night but did not fare well against UIC in its 80-63 loss Saturday evening at the Resch.

Kamari McGee turned in yet another strong performance with 23 points while fellow freshman Cade Meyer chipped in 15. It was not going to be enough from the get-go however as the Flames started out hot from the field, jumping out to a 15-5 lead less than six minutes into the game. They would later stretch that lead to 22 points, only to have the Phoenix cut it to 12 points with 12:23 to go. A 10-0 run by the Flames ended hope for the Phoenix, giving their visitors from Chicago their last laugh in Green Bay before they depart the Horizon League for the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Phoenix will host Detroit Mercy on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Oakland at 6 p.m. on Saturday next weekend.
