Phoenix men swept in St. Petersburg

The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team will just have to treat its trip to St. Petersburg, Fla. as a learning experience after losing their third game in the Jersey Mike's Classic to Weber State 68-58.

Leading the way for the Phoenix was Emmanuel Ansong, who had 12 points and nine rebounds. Other players registering double figures were Cade Meyer (11 points) and Japannah Kellogg III  (10 points and seven rebounds). The Phoenix actually outrebounded the Wildcats 39-31, but they could not score efficiently enough to take advantage as the shot on 38 percent from the field including 23 percent from behind the arc. Donovan Ivory was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 17.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game across its three contests.

The Phoenix men will next play on Saturday at the Kress Center against UW-Superior.
