Badgers overpower Iowa 27-7 in Big Ten football

The Wisconsin Badgers claimed the Heartland Trophy on Saturday afternoon with a hard-fought victory over the #9 Iowa Hawkeyes at Camp Randall Stadium.  The Badgers defense shutout the Hawkeyes in the first half and Braelon Allen rushed for 104 yards on 20 carries to carry Wisconsin to their fourth consecutive win.

Wisconsin's defense forced three turnovers and sacked Iowa quarterbacks six times.  The win kept the Badger's destiny in their own hands for a possible Big Ten West championship, after starting the Big Ten schedule 0-2.

Graham Mertz threw for 104 yards and one touchdown, while scoring on two quarterback sneaks to lead the Badgers to the convincing win.

Wisconsin (5-3, 3-2 Big Ten) will now travel to Rutgers to play the Scarlet Knights next Saturday at 2:30 pm.
