The Green Bay Packers scored 17 points in the second quarter to take control of the game Sunday, as they prevailed over the Pittsburg Steelers at Lambeau Field 27-17.

 

The Steelers opened the scoring on a 45-yard touchdown strike from Ben Roethlisberger to Diontae Johnson with 10:04 left in the first quarter.  A four-yard run by Aaron Rodgers early in the second quarter and a 23-yard pass from Aaron Rodgers to Randall Cobb with 10:55 left in the half gave the Packers the lead for good.

 

Chris Boswell and Mason Crosby hit field goals to close out the first-half scoring, as the Packers took a 17-10 lead into halftime.  The Packers benefited from a huge offside penalty that negated a blocked field goal by Pittsburg that was returned for a touchdown right before intermission.

 

The second half saw the Packers extend the lead to 27-10 on another Crosby field goal and Cobb’s second TD reception from one yard out.  Pittsburg would score once more, but it was not enough as the Packers improved to 3-1. 

 

Rodgers was 20/36 for 248 yards and two touchdowns with one rushing touchdown.  A. J. Dillon led the rushing attack with 15 carries for 81 yards and Randall Cobb had his biggest game since returning to the Packers with five receptions for 69 yards and two scores. 

 

The Packers will now look to get healthy, as starting defensive backs Jaire Alexander and Darnell Savage were forced to leave the game with injuries and did not return to play.  Green Bay will travel next Sunday to Cincinnati to take on the 3-1 Bengals who defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-21.
