Brewers capture division crown

The Milwaukee Brewers clinched their fourth division crown Sunday afternoon with an 8-4 victory over the New York Mets.

The Brewers did not flinch when Francisco Lindor put the Mets up 1-0 with a solo home run in the first inning, taking the lead on a two-run shot by Willy Adames in the bottom half of the frame. A Christian Yelich RBI groundout and an Eduardo Escobar put the Brewers up 5-1 in the second inning. The Mets would chip away at the lead in subsequent innings eventually making it 5-4 before a pair of throwing errors clinched the game, the series, and the division in the sixth inning.

The Brewers have to wait for the wild card picture to sort itself out before it knows its playoff opponent, but first, they will travel to St. Louis to play the Cardinals in a three-game set beginning on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
