Brewers witness history in loss to Cardinals

The Milwaukee Brewers clubbed a pair of homers in the second inning, but not much more as they fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 5-2 in Jon Lester's 200th victory as an MLB pitcher.

Avisail Garcia and Luis Urias tied the game at two in the second inning with solo shots after Nolan Arenado started the game with a two-run homer. Yadier Molina drove in the eventual winning run in the sixth inning and an insurance tally in the eighth inning with RBI singles. Paul Goldschmidt also tallied an RBI in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly.

Lester went six innings with two earned runs and three hits to pick up his 200th victory. Freddy Peralta threw six innings, giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out nine.

The two teams meet again in Milwaukee Tuesday night at 6:40 p.m.
