Badgers offense stagnant in opening loss

Despite the University of Wisconsin football team racking up nearly 43 minutes worth of possession time on Saturday, they fell to Penn State 16-10 in the top-20 matchup. In a year where many are hoping for a second-year leap from promising quarterback Graham Mertz, the Badger sophomore had a rough start. Mertz threw two interceptions and lost a fumble. His night ended with a statline of 22 for 37 passing for 185 yards. The Badgers defense gave the red and white a chance, as the score was 0-0 at halftime and Penn State had just 43 total yards to that point. The Badgers lone touchdown came on a three-yard score from Chez Mellusi, a transfer from Clemson.

Now 0-1, the Badgers have a home game next Saturday with Eastern Michigan. Kickoff is at 6:00 PM.
